Q: How far away is the ski resort?

A: The cabin is located about a mile south of ski run road. From there it is 12 miles to Ski Apache. There is no lodging within 10 miles of the resort so this property is closer than most.

Q: Is the cabin accessible when it is snowing?

A: Yes. The highway is plowed by the state. Whitney drive is plowed by the city. The driveway is plowed by our private contractor.

Q: Where is the closest airport?

A: El Paso Airport is 135 miles away - about a 2.5 hour drive. Rental car access is very easy - without shuttles. You can grab your luggage from baggage claim, go the rental counters and walk out the door to your car.

Q: How far away are the casinos?

A: Inn of the Mountain Gods is about 9 miles away, Ruidoso Downs is about 9 miles away and The Travel Center Casino is about 11 miles away.

Q: Where are the closest grocery stores?

A: Lawrence Brothers is about 3 miles away - on Mechem. Walmart is 9 miles away. There are 2 gas stations within a mile for the quick trips.

Q: Do I need 4 wheel drive?

A: The cabin is very accessible with a small compact car -even in a little snow. However, in a larger snowstorm, the road may need to be plowed for access. 4 Wheel drive or chains would be very helpful in this case and even necessary to get to the ski resort.

Q: Can I bring my pet?

A: No, this is a no pet property. We ask that you respect our request.

Q: Where is the property located?

A: 120 Whitney. The cabin is located in the desireable northern part of Ruidoso - near the Swiss Chalet. From downtown Ruidoso, go north about 4 miles on Mechem road. Take Whitney dr just past the Swiss Chalet and follow it to the right for about a 1/4 mile. The property will be on the right at the end of the road.

Q: How old is the cabin?

A: The property was built during the summer of 2008

Q:Why is the tax so high?

A: The state of New Mexico applies a "gross receipts tax". This means that all transactions (even contractual) are taxed. If you pay a contractor to do work in New Mexico, it is taxed. Consequently, taxes must be taken after cleaning and hot tub fees. Also, the local lodging tax revenues are used to pay for fire and police protection, road repairs, snow removal, etc. that are provided for you during your stay.

Q: Is the cabin secluded?

A: There is one house just down and to the right. Other than that, no other property is close. There is forest on all sides of the house with wonderful views of the Ruidoso valley and Sacremento Mountains
